Pelvic Assessment

A pelvic assessment using a transvaginal ultrasound may be recommend as one of the fertility tests we use to assess pelvic normality.  This scan is checking for physical conditions that might be stopping conception.

During this scan, we will be checking the uterus, it’s lining and looking at the endometrial development.  During this test we are looking at any conditions that might be affecting fertility such as endometriosis, fibroids or polyps.

Ultrasound is also used to check your ovaries.  We look at the size and shape of each ovary, and follicle and see if there are any conditions which might be stopping conception.  We can then use this initial scan as a baseline of size, shape and follicles for comparison during treatment.

In some cases, further investigations are required laparoscopic surgery may be used to assess pelvic normality, endometrial development, tubal blockages or other gynaecological conditions which may be resulting in infertility.
